On this page you will find details on how you can join our church in a season of prayer and fasting, along with multiple ways you can submit a prayer request.
Join us as a church as we take intentional time to focus our hearts and our attention on God through prayer and fasting. Each day this week, we will provide a resource for your own personal prayer and reflection. This will include a key truth to remember, scripture and a prayer. Continue to check out this page each day for more resources and information as we collectively seek God through prayer and fasting.

Daily Reflection

Monday, October 27: Empowered to be like Jesus
Key Truth
“Empowered to be like Jesus”

Verse
Acts 1:8
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Holy Spirit. Too often, we move forward without acknowledging our need for You. In our efforts to be like You and share Your good news, help us to first follow Your lead. Empower us to reflect You in all we do today.

Action Challenge
Ask someone "How can I pray for you?" and actually pray for them in the moment.

Tuesday, October 28: Be ready to proclaim your hope in Christ
Key Truth
“Be Ready to Proclaim your Hope in Christ”

Verse
1 Peter 3:14-15
14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

Prayer
Lord, we thank you that you are sovereign over our lives and in our world. Even when it feels as though the odds are stacked against us, we remember who You are. You are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Holy Spirit, help us to carry this truth as we proclaim the hope we have in You.

Action Challenge
Today, tell someone how Jesus has changed your life.

Wednesday, October 29: Let your actions reflect Jesus
Key Truth
“Let your Actions Reflect Jesus”

Verse
Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father.

Prayer
Lord, give us strength and wisdom to reflect You. Show us the areas in our lives where we hide your goodness or walk in shame. As you continue to transform our hearts and minds, help us to allow your goodness in our lives to be on display.

Action Challenge
Buy someone coffee or lunch and invite them to church.
Thursday, October 30: Talk like Jesus
Key Truth
“Talk like Jesus”

Verse
Colossians 4:6
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Prayer
Father, we begin this moment by acknowledging how easy it is for us to speak from a place of anger, hurt, or pride. Today, we ask You to search not only our hearts and minds but also the words that come from our mouths. Holy Spirit, lead us as we surrender this to You!

Action Challenge
Share a meal with someone and tell them what God has been teaching you this month.
Friday, October 31: Walk like Jesus
Key Truth
“Walk like Jesus”

Verse
Matthew 28:19-20
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Prayer
Lord, we take a few moments to thank you. We are grateful for the way you lead and transform us to be ambassadors for you. Continue to help us today and everyday to live for you and you alone!

Action Challenge
Reflect on your month-long journey and share with someone how God has been working in your life through this prayer and fasting experience.

Establish a Rhythm of Prayer

The key to making your prayer journey successful is establishing prayer and fasting routines that work with your real life. We're creatures of habit, and our goal is to establish healthy spiritual disciplines we can carry with us through our lives.

Your strategy should consist of three things - a time, a spot, and a plan.

Pick a Time

What time of day can you realistically commit to prayer? If you have young kids, it might need to be before they wake up or after bedtime. If you work shifts, maybe it's during lunch break or right when you get home. It doesn't matter when it is; just pick the time that's going to be easiest for you to stick to and put it in your calendar right now.

Pick a Spot

Your prayer times will be way more consistent if you designate a specific spot for them. Maybe it's a certain chair in your living room, your back porch, or even your car during lunch break. Some people use a closet for privacy, others prefer their kitchen table. It doesn't matter what spot you choose; it only matters that you pick one and stick with it.

Pick a Plan

The best way to have success during your prayer time is to go in with a plan. Don't just wing it—you'll end up staring at the ceiling wondering what to pray about. You can find a Bible Reading plan on The Bible App or browse Bible Studies on Rightnow Media. You can create a free account through Hope, just click the button below.

Fasting 101

Fasting is withholding from something we want so we can set our minds and attention on God. Food is an important part of life, but Scripture is full of invitations to go without it for a period of time to connect with God and be more mindful of our reliance on Him.

Why Do We Fast?

Fasting helps us realize how much we depend on God for everything—not just spiritual things, but even our basic needs. When we feel hunger or miss something we've given up, it reminds us to pray and refocus on Jesus.

Complete Food Fast

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids for a set period (maybe one day, or from sunrise to sunset). Drink plenty of water, and add juice or protein shakes as needed for health. This is intense, so start small if you're new to fasting.

Partial Food Fast

This involves skipping certain meals or not eating during specific hours. For example, you might skip breakfast and lunch, eating only dinner. Or you could avoid eating from sunrise to sunset. This is more manageable for people with busy schedules.

Selective Food Fast

Remove certain types of food from your diet. The "Daniel Fast" is popular—you eat only fruits, vegetables, nuts, and drink water. No meat, sweets, bread, or processed foods. This is easier to maintain for longer periods while still being meaningful.

Soul Fast

Perfect if you can't fast from food due to health reasons, or if you want to address other areas of dependence in your life.
Fast from:
  • Social media, TV, or entertainment
  • Coffee, soda, or other beverages you rely on
  • Shopping (except necessities)
  • Complaining or negative talk
  • Technology (beyond what's needed for work)

Whatever you choose, the goal isn't to impress God or others with how "spiritual" you are. It's about creating space in your life to focus on Jesus and remember that He's what you truly need. When you feel the absence of what you've given up, let it remind you to pray.
